We made a reservation (must do) and ate at Maggiano's in So Coast Plaza before; Great meal and service (we loved Rue!) and walked over to the Theater, over the bridge in a well lit and well traveled area right to the Theater.

The weather was warm. I wore Dressy casual (although others in the audience inappropriately wore tee shirts and shorts!).

Across from the theater is South Coast Plaza and I love ANQI for their exquisite cocktails and smaller plates of food for a a late afternoon meal. The ambiance is lovely.

The weather was sunny and windy. I wore a comfortable long dress and heels and it was very appropriate for an afternoon performance;..

If you can -- dine at Cafe Rouge in the same building (all glass) at the Henry & Renee Segerstrom Music Center (forgot the exact name) across from the Performing Arts Center. The food is excellent, it is wine friendly - no corkage and the people watching is fun.
