We took the LIRR to Penn and walked to the pier.
They charged me $1 for a cup of ice at the consession stand inside the terminal.
The covered rea of the vessel was small but luckily we had a beautiful summer day.

We parked at Icon Parking Lot on 42nd St. Had a groupon! And then we walked to pier.

Bring something to put on the seat in hot weather to avoid burning your butt.
Visit the High Line Park prior to that, it is really cool and not a long walk from the pier.
Beaware of the google map location service. It is sure to mislead you.
Did not like the fact that there was no parking at Pier 78.
The first boat out is usually the least crowded.
If it looks rainy, be aware that you may get wet; the sides of the boat aren't covered
Line up early to avoid not get a good seat
Eat first, only snacks onboard. But it's not a diner cruise so it's to be expected
Take a jacket it gets windy and can be a bit cool especially coming back when it's getting later.
There was plenty of seating for us.
We were running late and had our food to go and they had no problem with us eating on the boat.
Yeah, most def get there early for the good seats..or else you'll be standing...not kool:(
Bring your own snacks...dont miss one minute of the sights!
