Don't drive if possible. The trick is leaving early enough. We parked at an East Bay BART station, got off at Embarcadero and had a light dinner, took a bus up Market to Van Ness: Symphony Hall right there. Afterwards, BART all the way. Clipper cards! Wonderful.

The weather was a dark and cool winter night. I wore nice dress, husband in slacks and jacket with cravat, both in good overcoats. But it's the Bay Area! Everything goes, really..

If you can, bring your own small, quiet munchie as their least expensive snack is $4, as is a small bottle of water. It all goes up from there. So unless you have it to throw away, be prepared.

The weather was warm going in cool coming out. Use traditional San Franmcisco layering.. I wore a lovely outfit as did most women. An excuse to dress up and wear jewelry...how fun!.

If you leave a little time to look you can usually get parked within 2 or 3 blocks, not a bad walk.

There many, many restaurants in the area, really close by, and further away on Hayes St, within walking distance. So many, it is worth the experience to plan to eat out, as part of the experience.
