Hayes Street Grill is perfect. Reservations are recommended, but you can eat at the bar also. Street parking is free after six and you can often find parking spaces on Franklin or side streets close by.

We were in a hurry and found a great corner store on Hayes with pre-made organic sandwiches. Wish I could remember the name. We just asked someone on the street where we could find quick food, and they pointed us to it.

Monsieur Benjamin on the west side of Gough St., just south of Grove St. We enjoyed an excellent a la carte French dinner on New Year's Eve, at a price that was surprisingly more affordable than the prix fixe menus offered by other restaurants in the Civic Center-Hayes Valley area.

depending on events around civic center, traffic and parking can be really difficult, so give yourself plenty of time to find parking and bring some cash, because if there is only limited parking all garages will accept cash only!
